Welcome to the Spectrum!
Established in February 2025, the Emerald City Spectrum was created by NFL beat reporter Corbin Smith to provide hard-hitting insight and analysis for every pro and college team in Seattle, promoting real journalistic practices that die hard and casual fans alike crave and deserve.
At the initial launch of the online publication, Smith and a staff featuring analyst Ty Gonzalez and writer Nick Lee initially covered the Seahawks and Mariners, two of the staple professional sports franchises in the region. The Spectrum plans to continue adding talented reporters and writers in the future, expanding coverage to include all Washington Huskies sports programs, the Kraken, the Sounders, and the Storm among others.

Graduating from Manchester College in 2012, Smith began his professional career as a high school Economics teacher in Indianapolis and launched his own NFL website covering the Seahawks as a hobby. After teaching and coaching high school football for five years, he transitioned to a full-time sports reporter in 2017, writing for USA Today's Seahawks Wire while continuing to produce the Legion of 12 podcast.
Prior to launching the Emerald City Spectrum, Smith worked for Sports Illustrated as lead publisher of the Seahawks On SI team site for seven seasons and continues to host the daily Locked On Seahawks podcast. Away from his coverage of the Seahawks and the NFL, he dabbles in standup comedy, is a heavy metal enthusiast and previously performed as lead vocalist for a metal band, and enjoys distance running and weight lifting. A habitual commuter, he resides with his wife Natalia in Colorado and spends extensive time reporting from his second residence in the Pacific Northwest.
